Abstract: This talk will be a personal journey, from the folklore heard when I was a kid, followed by the story read when I was young, and end up with personal experience on exploring algebraic geometry. It will also be an impressionist painting, by a novice, of this huge mountain algebraic geometry, from the geometric side, gazing at the algebraic peak.
I will mention the names of these giants, Riemann, Hodge, Weil, Grothendieck, Tate, Deligne, Mumford, Bogomolov, and end with the drawing: these K3 surfaces have infinitely many rational curves.
