Second National Partial Differential Equations Doctoral Forum Held at Peking University

The opening ceremony of the Second National Partial Differential EquationsPDEDoctoral Forum was held at Peking University on October 11, 2019. Chinese Academy of Sciences Academician Jiang Song and Researcher Zhang Ping, Fudan University Professor Zhou Yi, and almost 100 experts, scholars and graduate students from universities and institutes across the country attended the opening ceremony, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, University of Science and Technology of China, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Nanjing University, Sun Yat-sen University, Xiamen University, Sichuan University, Wuhan University, Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Peking University School of Mathematical Sciences Party Secretary Professor Hu Jun attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Peking University School of Mathematical Sciences Vice Dean Professor Zhang Zhifei.

The forum lasted for three days (Oct.11-Oct.13). At the opening ceremony, Professor Hu Jun first welcomed experts and scholars from all over the country, praised the significance of the Forum, reviewed the development of mathematics achieved by Peking University in recent years, and wished the Forum a success on behalf of the School of Mathematical Sciences. Academician Jiang Song congratulated the opening of the second Partial Differential Equation Forum, which provided a better academic environment and broader platform for youth researcher. He highly affirmed the irreplaceable leading role of mathematics in the field of modernization and scientific and technological innovation, and called on youth researcher to devote themselves to research and study, work hard and pay more attention to the international frontier and cross-disciplinary researches. At last, he proposed to attract youth researcher from all over the world and strengthen exchanges and cooperation.

The Second National Partial Differential Equations Doctoral Forum provides a broad platform for youth researchers in this field. The School of Mathematical Sciences of Peking University will strive to create first-class working conditions to attract outstanding mathematicians and students from all over the word. With greater academic enthusiasm and more determined scientific spirit, the School of Mathematical Sciences will explore frontier problems, solve mathematical problems in a number of national key projects, train a large number of mathematicians and experts for the national developments, and assist in the increasing power and influences of Chinese mathematical sciences.
